Colt leaned lower over Aztec's neck as he let the reins slide through his fingers, one inch, two inches, three inches. The stallion grabbed the bit and held nothing back. He surged after the small band of mustangs with a vigor that he always showed for this certain type of work. Colt whispered words into the stallions ear, but there was no sign that he had heard. He kept moving with the man on his back, quickly closing the escape for the small band. Colt grasped the reins tighter and started pulling him up slightly, but it hardly mattered, nothing could have stopped the golden and white whirlwind that moved towards the exit to the canyon, desperatly trying to reach the mouth of the narrow bottle canyon before the swifter horses made it out. The gap was closing quickly, but the hardy mustang mares were covering ground almost as quickly. Colt grabbed the reins right when the first mare made it to the hole in the canyon wall, and he sat hard in the saddle, and Aztec slid on his hocks in front of her. The mare was so started that she squealed and swirled, retreating into the canyon, taking her herd members with her. Aztec and Colt both breathed heavily as he swung off Aztec, patting his shoulder lovingly. He reached into the saddle bag, grabbing a staple gun a some thick, brightly colored flat rope. He walked over and wrapped the rope around one of the tall mesquite tree and stapled it quickly to the truck. He moved over and did the same to the other side. Soon, he had blocked off the exit temproarily and he walked off to grab the brush that was piled half a mile away. He swung onto Aztec and untied his rope and trotted to the large pile of brush. He roped one of the logs and dallied the rope around the saddle horn and touched Aztec sides, asking him to pull the log back to the canyon. Soon, they had moved the entire pile, and it all was stacked neatly in front of the canyon, acting as a barricade until the others brought a suitable gate. When all the work was finished, Colt slid off Aztec and pulled out a small bag of grain, feeding him quickly.

Lindsay cantered her stallion toward the heard leader. She pushed him up into a gallop and jumped onto the lead stallions back."Game on"she said to chad as she pushed the horse toward the valley surronded by mountains..with one way out it acted like a huge roundpen. She cantered the wild mustnag hard,Chad helping heard well she kept him in a straight line. She grabbed his mane as he swerved to the left. She instintily brought him back by sliding her left leg forward. He let out a buck but he kept going.Lindsay cantered him hard and the oblivous heard was fallowing the leader. The stallion came to the valley and she cantered threw then made him turn into a tight circle to get him to stop as soon as the last mare had crossed Chad was in place gaurding the opening. She quickly jumped of the stallion and made a gate out of strong rope from her saddle bag."Mission Accomplished"she said to chad as she mounted unto him and worked her way around the valley...looking for horses with good conformation..ones that shed make money off of.

accepted. i'll be posting amy, ashley, dylan, emily, & chris' posts soon. i need somebody to judge those.
amytal westwood charlamaygne galloped after the stray mare, silent even through the forest. pale green light filtered its way through the thick canopy of leaves that hung overhead. the forest went rushing by, but still amy heard nothing but the mustang's hooves and the wind rushing past her ears. charlie was silent as a sentinel. and suddenly, they were given away. the forest suddenly ended, leaving them exposed in a bright clearing. the mustang mare jolted back, surprised before she charged toward them, seeing the only way out. amy reached for the rope she had tied around her belt loop, taking her lasso in the other hand, throwing the loop toward the mare. it tightened around the horse's neck, but she kept running, and the rope would snap soon if amy couldn't stop her. the mare began to drag amy as she galloped, pulling against the weight. amy dug her heels into the ground and stumbled to the right, succeeding in holding the rope against a tree. the heels of her shoes stayed in the ground as amy threw the shorter piece of rope toward the mare's rump. the mare jolted away from the rope, guided by her lasso around the tree until she stopped at the trunk. amy tied a knot quickly, satisfied with her work. the others would be there to pick her up later.

Katie galloped hard on Sou'Wester through the grassy plains. They rushed through the grassy-green forest and up and down hills. They stopped at the top of the highest hill and looked around. The mustang mares were cantering between the two hills. They carefully trotted down the hill and then galloped after them. She got the lasso tied to her saddle and was ready to catch the mustang at any moment. She kicked Moses harder and they were parallel with the mustang. She swung her rope over her neck. First time..a dud. They were starting to get behind but Moses' mighty legs brought them back parallel again. She threw the rope and it tightened around the mare's neck. Katie patted her trusty horse and pulled hard on the mare's neck, but she didn't stop. She went faster. Moses got competetive and went ahead of her, she still did not stop. She pulled harder on the mustangs neck, yielding her and her horse. She patted Moses neck and turned around. They walked slowly to a tight tree. She dismounted off of Moses and tied the mustang's rope tightly to the tree. BLM would pick her up soon. She mounted back onto Sou'Wester and spied the other mustang. She was about 30 feet away watching her friend be tied up. Katie put her feet in the stirrps then squeezed until Moses was at a gallop. They followed the mare to a small body of water where the mustang took a drink. Moses whinnied to the Mustang to grab her attention and Katie caught her. She smiled on a day's good job and brought her to another tree a few trees away from the first mustang. She tied her up tightly too. She jumped off of Moses and untacked him. She brushed him quickly and gave him 5 treats.

Tex sat silently on Melosa as he stared down the canyon at the two mares that had escaped from the group, they stood together, huddled close, waiting for the rest of the herd to find them, but they never would, they were holed up in a bottle canyon, with Colt standing guard. By now he'd have the entrance shut off, so there was no point in herding them back that way. His mind flew through possibilties. He was alone, he couldn't depend on anyone but himself. He breathed in deeply as Melosa shifted silently, more used to this type of work than the rider on her back. Tex tugged at the bridle, turning her away from the steep cliff and deep into a pine forest. The mare moved quickly but easily, knowing that the slightest sound would alert the mares below. Tex eased her to a stop, then sat, thinking for a moment. After a long time he urged the mare into a gallop through the woods, steering her left as they came out of the woods. He quickly switched her to a reckless gallop as he came out of the woods, they covered ground quickly as they rounded the corner and were suddenly twenty feet from the mares. Simultaneously, the mares burst into a gallop and ran in the opposite direction, deeper into the canyon. Tex spurred Melosa until she pulled up quickly, almost overtook the first mare and ran beside the first one. Tex untied his lasso and shook out a loop, which soon settled on the mare's neck, but she didn't realize it until he pulled in front of her and tightened the rope as he dallied it around his saddle horn. The mare squealed with rage and slid to a stop, making the rope between him and the mare taunt. The second mare sild into it, then swirled and started to gallop away. Tex grabbed his rope and untied it as he lunged off and tied the rope to a small mesquite bush quickly. He dodged the mares flashing hooves and teeth as he remounted and galloped off after the second mare. He untied his second rope, waiting. Suddenly, the mare was in front of him, cantering as she whinnied for her herd. Tex took a split second to ready his loop and he threw it in almost the same instant. It missed the mares head by a fraction, but Melosa overtook her in the same instant. He slid her in front of her and gathered his rope again, steadying himself as the mare ran into Melosa. He held tightly with his thighs as Melosa spun away from the mare, threating to kick her. With a high pitched squeal the other mare bit her haunches. She shot her hooves back, grazing the mares foreleg. Tex snarled and threw the loop behind him as he moved Melosa around. The loop barely settled over the mares head as he dallied the rope, but Melosa didn't move in time and the rope caught him across his left, throwing him to the ground. Melosa then swirled quickly and sat on the rope as the mare tried to get away. Tex leapt from the ground just in time to avoid getting trampled by the mustangs hooves. He jumped out of range as she squealed and tried her hardest to attack him. Tex smiled at her softly and then circled around until he could get to Melosa. He reached in the saddle bags and brought out a large roll of neon orange flat rope and a staple gun. He walked over to the nearest trees that stood beside the canyon wall and he stapled the rope to them. Then, he ran through the canyon at a lope, heading towards where he left the other mare. He found her in the same place, but she was no longer fighting the rope. Tex ran deeper into the canyon until he found two more trees and he stapled the rest of the flat rope to it. Then he went back to the mares, releasing the first one, then going back to work with the second one. The first mare hid in a corner, waiting for her friend to be released.
