Leaning forward holding tightly on to the saddle horn and giving an occasional whoop of joy. Kirsten never got bored of the fun of going at full speed on Broken. The mares powerful stride coverd long distances in short time, tossing her mane in her riders face. Laughing aloud Kirsten knew the time to stop was coming. Saddend she pulled lightly on the reins and ameidiatly Broken responded, slowing from a hearty gallop to a walk.
Noticing her mare slightly sweaty Kirsten slowed her horse until she stood. Dismounting from her horses back she loosend the mares girth and lifted off her saddle, knowing how much she could trust her horse she let go of the reins and picked up the halter wich swung from the saddle horn. Taking off the mares bridle and slipping on the halter she let Broken go, knowing the mare would not stray far. As soon as the mare was set free she headed off towards the lake and drank her fill. Then lay down by the waters edge and grazed on the short stems that grew there.
Watching her beautiful mare, Kirsten realised that she was the only family left. Her collage friends had seeked jobs in the city and all her relations lived somewhere unknown. Sighing she took a drink out of her saddle bag and took a sip. Wandering if someone would come by she rested her head on the bag and rested her eyes smiling as she was sent into a daydream.

Scott wore a white wife beater and some torn up jeans, he rode a green broke palomino colt. It was the colts first time out on the trails and he had only been riden for a short time, but the colt was him and his sisters training responsability so he decided to introduce him to the trails early. At first glance Scott looked like a complete city boy, but he was full country. From the tip of his black stetson to the toe of his spurred boots, he was a fulll country boy. He was fit with a southern accent and a tanned muscular body.
Scotts arms worked up a sweat as he worked gently to keep the colt from spooking at every sound he heard. The 2 year old pranced sideways, his nares flared, and his ears were perked at every single sound. His wife beater was slightly dirty and wet from the sun beating down on his and the effort of calming the young studs nerves.
Scott noticed a creek coming up, he slowed the colt and dismounted. Scott set up a picket line between 2 trees and clipped Scotch to it. He untacked him and rubbed some of the sweat marks on his back. Scott took off his stetson and rubbed his sweaty hair, he tossed it aside and took off his boots and wife beater. He ran towards the creek and jumped into the water, the cold creek water refeshed his hot body. He scrubbed the dirt and sweat from his body and floated on his back for a while, enjoying the sun beating down on him....not notcing the girl and her horse about 20 yards down the creek.

Broken ameidiatly picked up the scent of a colt and whinned loudly, nodding her dished head elegantly. Awakend by her mare's noisy calling Kirsten quickly sat up and looked around, not seeing anyone she stood and went to pet Broken to calm her. As she walked toward the mare she noticed another figure and stopped dead as the cutest boy her eyes had ever gazed upon crossed her sights, and her jaw dropped slightly. Quickly regaining her figure she recollected herself and carried on walking toward Broken. As she reached her she patted the mares neck and smiled as she saw the horse that had taken her mares interest. Giggling she called out softly to the man " Um Hi there," she called quietly wandering wether or not he had heard her.

Scotts head jerked and he opened his eyes, he looked up and saw the girl standing near the water. He hadnt noticed that nayone was nearby, " Howdy ma'am " Scott said swimmign to the waters edge and climbing up on the bank. Water dripped from his body as he reached his hand out to shake the girls hand " I'm Scott....i wasnt really expecting anyone to be out here " he said smilling.
Scotch trotted to the end of his picket line and whinnied loudly, not liking being left alone.

" Me neither, I thought I'd come to far out for anyone to be around..." smiling she let her hand drop to her side "Oh yeah I'm Kirsten but most just call me Kirst." looking past him she noted the colt again. " Nice horse," she commented. Not wanting to be left out Broken trotted in and stuck her nose inbetween them nuzzling Kirsten's face, " Grroff, Kirsten smiled gently at her horses good nature. "Sorry about that, she said trying to be serious but bursting into laughter instead.

Scott smiled " Im sure Scotch would be doing the same thing if he were here " he noted. Scotch needed to learn that being alone was nothing to be afraid of, thats why scott tied him off and wandered a bit aways, scotch needed to learn a little bit of patience and learn not to be afraid.

" Scotch... Is that his name?" she asked, pushing Brokens nose gently away. To her the horse tied further away seemed pretty green and young. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear angain showing off her dazziling straight white teeth. Broken buisly got interested in the colt again and trotted off toward him then stopping just at the end of were his line could reach. She knew he couldn't reach her and enjoied teasing him cantering away then coming back again.

" Yeah, he is a foundation quarter horse, i've had him since he was born...i had his mother but she died last year when he was a yearling. I've just begun training him....he's not doing too bad so far. " he said smiling Kirsten.
Scotch whinnied and snorted pulling on the picket line wanting to go play with the mare that kept teasing him. He trotted from one end of the picket to the other, his nares flared and ears perked.

" I'm sorry to hear about his mother..." she said nodding. " He looks a good horse, she noted, running her eyes down his body.
Broken loved this and crept closer and closer, when he got close to her she squealed and leapt back a few paces, enjoying this game.

Scotch pinned his ears and snorted, giving one final tug on the picket line before the mare lost his attention and he began to graze again.
" Ah, she was a great mare, but it was her time....she lived a good life " he said, he wasnt too upset about the mares death, its was very peaceful for her.

Seeing him loose intrest, she quickly copied. Dropping her head to the ground and snatching on a few young shoots.
" Oh, I know what you mean," she smiled, her old horse had gone the same way.

" Yeah... " he said with an awkward pause. He looked away and scratched his stubly chin, he looked around....it was very beautiful today.
Scotch continued to graze.

Smiling softly to herself, she turned away at the pause to Broken. She whistled to the mare who lifted her head from the ground and started to walk reluctently over to her.

Scott was now dry from his swim in the creek, he grabbed his boots from a nearby rock and put them on, followed by his tanktop and stetson. " Wanna go for a ride? " he asked looking towards scotch who had now begun to nibble at the picket line boredly.

" Yeah why not." she said without any hesitation, and quickly sliped back on the mares tack. She rubbed Brokens nose then mounted her easily and swiftly. Broken arched her neck proudly and played with the bit in her mouth.
