Reno trotted Novalle's mare, Valentine down the trail that was best know for its mustang sightings, but today he wasn't here to catch mustangs, he was following the tracks that Tex had made. He'd teach him to be a gentleman yet. He chuckled at the thought as he kept his eyes on the ground, following the tracks of the younger man's mare, Melosa. He knew it had to be the dun mare because the hooves were too large for Lady, and too small for Aztec, and he was riding Valentine, also, when Melosa was younger he had observed her hooves for long periods of time, he knew the shape and size well. It was Melosa. The tracks he followed went up a hill, he presumed it was to a watering holw, but he couldn't be sure. Stopping Valentine near a small grove of tree, he tied her to a small sage bush, knowing that the roots woould be too deep for her to pull it out. He crept up the hill, stopping at the top when he saw the dun mare drinking greedily as Tex sunned slept on a nearby boulder. His smirk widened and he strode forward, his step sure but silent, sturdy but light. Tex didn't ever hear a thing. Reno stopped right beside him, smiling down but making sure not to move in front of the sun and give himself away. Then, without warning, he harshly shoved Tex of the large, smooth rock. Tex hit the otherside with a thud and rolled, yanking his hat away from his eyes as he leapt to his feet. When his swirling eyes fell on a smirking Reno, his angry scowl left his face. Reno, you stupid son-of-a-gun, you liked to scare me to death! He smiled, genuinely happy to have his other best friend, he rounded the boulder to clap his friend on the back, but just recieved a harsh, heacy blow to the jaw. Tex hadn't expected that and he fell down from the force, but he was up just as quick, his eyes flashing with anger and hatred. Reno smirked again. What's this I hear about you cussin' at women and pickin' fights with them as well? Reno's unnatrually deep voice resonated of the rocks as he steadied himself for Tex's inevitable rage, but he was ready, he had the upper hand, it was a bit dirtier kind of fighting, but this way he won and he got his point across. Tex lunged at him, Reno blocked it and sent him sprawling. Tex saw red, his movements showed it. Reno stayed calm though, easily dodging Tex's rage-filled swings, and then struck wickedly with his own. It took considerably less time than either of them thought. Before long, Tex collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily. Reno sat down beside him, barely sweating at all and his breathing was completly normal. Now, little brother, will you listen to reason? He asked softly, knowing that he would, it was the way of fighting. Tex nodded as he gasped for breath and fanned his face with his hat. I thought you might, anyhow, there's been lots of rumors 'bout you stirrin' up a hornets nest. Somethin' bout how you weren't treatin' this Mandy girl nice enough. You'll go apologize to her today and that other girl from the blogs, Linsday. His voice was serious as death, his face dark in the shadows that fell from his hat brim. Tex's eyes grew wide. I can't apologize, Reno, they'll think I'm bein' nice, and to tell you thetruth, I hate those girls. Their so annoying! Tex spoke, his voice portraying his loathing. Reno nodded absentminededly. I know you don't like 'em, but it's not like I'm makin' you marry 'em, I'm simply tellin' you that your gonna apologize or I'm gonna beat the hell outta ya, understand? His voice was rough as he stared down at Tex, who wasn't really related to him at all, but who he always saw as a little brother. Tex's eyes were angry, and stubborn, but they softened slightly with defeat. Alright, Reno. I'll tell 'em I'm sorry. Then he eased himself up, his nose and lip oozing slightly. He walked over to the waterhole and rinsed the dried blood off then leapt onto Melosa. He nodded for Reno to follow and made his way down the trail. Hey, I don't have to apologize to Devon, do I? He's a stupid little **** and I ain't gonna say sorry to him. He's older than me, and he's a wuss, it's not like I should apologize to him, right? He asked nervously, he wouldn't apologize to Devon, even if Reno told him to, he hated that boy, for reasons he didn't know. Reno smiled as he walked down the hill and leapt onto Valentine. It's not as if he couldn't stand up for himself, and, he is older than you, so I don't think so, but kid, you'd better start behavin', I don't care how much older someone is, that doesn't give you a right to run your mouth. His words were kind, but low. They headed back towards the apartment at a gallop, seeing which mare could hold out longer.
