amytal stood under the awning of the movie theater, looking into the box office. rain was pouring down as she waited for colt to return from parking the car. her arms were wrapped tightly around her thin torso...she was freezing cold. she honestly hoped colt had a jacket for her to borrow.

Colt parked his truck as close as possible, jumped out, his cowboy hat nearly blown off his head. He held it on as the wind blew fiercly, grabbing at him with wispy finger-like breezes that were greedy to take his Resistol cowboy hat or his thick Carhartt jacket. He clutched his jacket around him and jogged to the place were Amytal stood. He reached the awning quickly and wrapped and arm around her waist, glancing down as he noticed her trembling. Without another word he slipped his thick, warm, sheep-skin lined jacket off and hung it over Amy's thin shoulders. He slipped his hands in his pockets and looked over the movie titles. He didn't recognize any of them, but he really didn't care much about the movie. He probably wouldn't even watch it. All he'd be paying attention to was Amy, and he knew it, and, for the first time, he admitted it. So...what movie do you want to see? He asked softly as he slipped his heavily muscled arm around her waist again as they moved up in the line.

amytal leaned in close, moving forward to kiss him on the cheek as he held her. let's see seabiscuit. she said, even though she'd already seen the movie more than five times. the arroyo cinemark always managed to provide some equine movies for the horse-crazed citizens. she moved toward the box office. two tickets to seabiscuit, please. she said, sliding the money under the window. the man working at the box office gave a sly smile toward amytal. oh...so you're dating the cowboy now, huh amy? he smirked. shut up, josh. amytal snapped bitterly. aww...come on, now. you don't want to be dating that little texas hick, do you? he said jokingly. amytal moved closer to colt. you tell me. amytal hissed. the two glared at each other for a moment before amytal rolled her eyes. just give us the tickets, josh. she growled. not until i get to talk to your new boyfriend. he smirked.
ooc: more drama.

Colt smirked at the other guy. Hey, City Boy, you ever heard any of the tail about how "Texas Hicks" fight? And who are you calling little? His voice was deep and intimidating as he stood next to the window, smirking down at the puny guy that he'd never consider a threat. Kid, I suggest you hand over the tickets and stop botherin' the little lady. When he spoke, his eyes turned from a soft blue to a swift, swirling, whirlwind of gray matter. Violence shined in his eyes as he watched the smaller guy through the window, daring him to start something on this particular night. He didn't really want to fight a guy on his first date with Amy, but he'd gladly shut this kid up that stood before him running his mouth like a immature child.

josh smirked up at colt. aww...amy, you haven't told the cowboy about our past? our future? he laughed. amytal's eyes froze. what past was he talking about. what future was he speaking of? we're engaged... he smirked, amber eyes glinting maliciously. everything shattered in amytal's eyes. she couldn't believe the lies he was telling to colt...the one secret part of her past that he was exposing before her eyes. she turned and sprinted through the rain, running away from the movie theater, tears rolling down her face, hot in contrast with the rain drops. the machine that amplified josh's voice only made his laughter louder and made the cackles ring through her head. she couldn't believe it. nothing was reall...it couldn't be.

Colts jaw tightened as he saw Amy run off into the rain. He watched the guy with a malicious look in his eyes. Then, without even thinking, he slammed his fist into the glass, causing it to make spiderwebs of cracks all over it. Safety glass. Anger and hurt pulsed through him. The only reason your still breathing is because if she's engaged to you, she cares for you. He snarled, shoving his bleeding and broken hand into his pocket, ignoring the pain. It hurt a lot less than his heart did, but he wouldn't give that jerk the satisfaction of knowing that. He turned and disappeared into the rain, not going towards his truck, not knowing were he was going. He disappeared into the storm, walking down the road with a broken fist and a broken heart. He wouldn't allow himself to cry, instead, he slowly killed each and every new feeling that had come to him. Love. Affection. Caring. He slowly executed every single one and vowed never to feel anything again. He slowly tried to return to the numb way of life he had known best, but it was hard, it was too hard. He'd allowed himself to care to much, but everything had turned out the way it had before. The rain pelted down on him, numbing his skin from the cold, the only thing he felt was the never-ending pain that shot through his chest.

seeing colt walk away from the box office, amytal raced toward him. colt! she screamed, begging him to stop. she practically flung herself at him. please...don't believe him. she sobbed. when i was dating him...i told him that...i had once been engaged to one of my brother's friends. she cried, head cradled in her hands. i can't believe he exposed me like that... she sobbed.

Colt finally stopped and looked up at the sky, letting the rain sting his face, his eyes. He couldn't look at her, he just couldn't bring himself to do it. He kept his hands tucked deeply in his pockets, bloodstaining his pocket where his broken hand had released the deep crimson colored liquid. He turned monotounosly slow, and when his eyes finally found her face, they were dead. They contained nothing but broken dreams and shattered emotions. Feeling drowned in betrayal and hurt. Pain coursed through his chest, a sort of pain that he hadn't felt in a long, long time. A sort of pain he would never have felt again if it hadn't been for Amy. A girl. A girl that he had warned himself about, but he hadn't been able to listen. He was bound to get hurt, and he knew it, but believeing that things could go right for him once, maybe just once, he'd risked it. Stupid him. He silently cursed himself in everyway possible, but soon found that it didn't help. He just stood their, freezing rain pouring down his body as he stood there in a soaked t-shirt and blue jeans. He wanted so badly to run back to her and hold her, let himself believe everything that she said, but his defensive emotions kicked in, and he pulled his keys out of his pocket and tossed them to her. Take yourself home Amy. I'll send Tex for the truck later. His voice was just like his eyes, gray, emotionless, dead. Then, without another word, he was gone into the midst of the storm. (Hee hee...drama of my own! He's gonna go sulk at his apartment for a while and they can run into each other in town in a few days and work everything out, right now he's gonna have a pity party tho...
