Gabe walked in to the Vineyard, he looked around feeling kind of out of place because the restuarant was very nice. But he was dressed nicely, so he only felt out of place and didnt look it. He wore one of his few stainless pairs of jeans, some nice black shoes, and a white button up shirt. He left the cowboy boots and stetson at home for this adventure. His hair was not matted down from his hat, it was instead spiked up slighty with gel. And instead of the lovely aroma of horses he wore a slightly noticable cologne.
He walked up the desk " Hi, i have an 8 o'clock reservation for Gabe Tomlinson " he said to the greeter at the front. " Right this way sir " said a waiter as she led him to 2 seated table in the quaint but large Italian restaurant. He sat down and ordered water to be brought for the two of them. He asked for the wine menu expecting later to buy a fine bottle of wine to share. He coughed and looked at his watch, it was about 7:55 pm.

Ten minutes later Marissa walked into the Vineyard, her lips painted a light shade of red which perfectly matched the close-fitting dress that she wore. She made a beautiful picture with her strappy red heels and the tea-length dress that had a slip that traveled high up the side, a bit higher than her knee. Despite the few times she had already worn the dress, she had never felt more out of place in her own body. Though she had been on many fancy dates before, she hadn't really felt nervous, or awkward, now, she couldn't help but feel butterflies dancing around her stomach for what lay ahead. A date. With Gabe. It really shouldn't matter so much, she had been on many dates before, it wasn't as if this one was any different. Yet she could only lie to herself for so long. She moved through the door of the Vineyard, stopping in front of the greeter, smiling softly towards him. She held herself gracefully, yet she didn't act stuck-up, as some females would. She was exactly as she had always been. Slightly reserved, but still as friendly as ever. Hello, I'm with Gabe Tomlinson. She said, smiling gently at the man as he nodded and turned, proceeding to lead her through the network of tables to the one that Gabe already occupied. She followed the waiter with smooth, gliding steps, her hips swaying softly, her pent up hair looking as if it would fall into a cascade of golden wavy locks at any moment. She soon reached the small table, and bowed her head slightly to the waiter as she moved to take a seat in front of Gabe, her turquoise colored eyes flashing as brightly as the dangling diamond earrings that fell down in a tangle of silver and teardrop shaped diamonds. Her necklace matched the earrings, but had one single teardrop that lay in the hollow of her neck, high above the low cut neckline. Hello Gabe. She smiled, pushing a tendril of hair back behind her ear.

Gabe smiled and got up to help her with the chair, he moved it out and waited for hr to sit down, then pushed it in a little. He returned to his seat and sat down " Wow " he said looking at her " You look amazing " he said looking at her beautiful teal eyes. He looked down at the wine menu and called over a waiter and asked for the best bottle of wine they had. The waiter quickly brought it our and poured them glasses, Gabe held up his glass to clink Marissa's.

Marissa smiled softly as she sat, watching Gabe he sat down again. Thank you. You look quite fetching yourself. She stated as she glanced down and captured the wine glass that told of a long time familiarity and a conquered weakness. She stared into the depths of the red wine for a moment, then looked up, nodding as she gently clinked her glass against his, her smile genuinely joyful and bashful. She brought the glass to her lips, sipping it noiselessly as she studied Gabe. Her words had been truth rather than flattery, though she doubted that he would have heard the sincerity of her tones. When she set the glass down, she watched him covertly from under her long, thick black eyelashes, unable to take her eyes away from him for a moment.

He sipped the wine and set the glass down, he liked the flavor...it was one he had never tasted before and he loved trying new things. He looked up and saw her staring at him, he smiled and blushed a little, he knew how she felt because he couldnt take his eyes off of her beautiful form. " Yeah, i hear i clean up pretty nicely " he said smiling jokingly.

She grabbed the wine glass again, loosely, as she brought it up, her red lips turning slightly redder from the wine that colored them as she sipped it. Well, you've been informed correctly. She said as she sat the glass down again, trying to not drink too much, or to get hooked. She had been an alcoholic from the age of 16- 19 and it was still hard to not catch up the old habit, but she had learned to manage. When she realized that she was staring at him, and that he knew it, she glanced away, blushing slightly as she smiled to herself, calling herself every kind of clumsy fool. Her normally calm behavior had been lost somewhere in the forest, and it only left way for her nervousness, though she hid it well. So. You just moved here, too? She asked him the question she had wondered about for most of the afternoon, nothing else had come to her mind.

" Yeah, i have kinda been roaming for a while from town to town....but i think i like this place, maybe i'll stay awhile....the people i've met so far are great " he said smiling. The fact was the only person he had met yet was Marissa and to call her great was a huge understatement......for some reason she had a hold on him that no other girl could get. He had roamed from town to town staying for a few days or a few weeks, so he had seen his share of women....but this felt different.

Marissa nodded, sending the loose tresses across her face. With impatient motions she tucked them back into place, smiling at Gabe. She had never moved before the other day. She had always lived on the reservation with her adoptive mother. She had wished to see the world many times, but had never had the opportunity. This was the first real chance she had had, so she had taken it. It was much more of a change than she had been used too, but she'd adjust.

" PLus this roaming cowboy stage in my life is starting to get old, i want to settle down and make a life my kids can be proud of....when i have kids " he said. He felt like he was talking to much and going too deep for his first date....but he had never really talked to other girls like this. Most of his other dates were in smoke filled bars and honky tonks and they ended up as one night stand to be totally honest.

Marissa risked a hopeful glance at him, but looked away just as quickly, not certain if she should allow herself to hope that he could love her, or if she could love him. She was tired of getting her heart broke because she place faith in the wrong place, but she knew that she couldn't not fall for him. She had never been able to control her own emotions, and, besides, if she had a choice, she probably would have chosen to fall in love with him anyways. She looked up at him again, silently making the decision to hope, yet again. That's admirable. I didn't realize that men cared about such things. She said softly, her voice slightly bitter with past heartache, but it dissolved the moment her eyes made contact with Gabe's again. Somehow, she felt right with him , even though she had never been more nervous with someone in her entire life.

He bit his lip slightly embarassed " Yeah, i know it makes me seem like a soft guy...but its true. If any other guy has a problem with it and thinks im any less of a man then i'll show them just how much of a man i am " he said again, feeling like he had said too much and thought he sounded pretty chessy and fake.....but it was 100 percent coming straight from his heart. He took another long swig of his wine, seeing that the waiter had left the whole bottle in an ice bucket for them.

Marissa smiled at him, nodding slightly. She knew that he was sincere, simply by the look in his eyes. It was odd though, to realize that there was a man in the world that actually cared about having a family, instead of what men usually looked for in women. Knowing that she would have a problem later if she drank to much wine, she simply sipped it, instead of guzzling it like she was used to. I'm sorry if I sounded rude. She said softly as she swished the remained of the wine around the glass, watching the effects of the movements in it's deep red swirling depths. To be truthful, it had scared her a bit to hear her own dreams voiced by a man. She had given up on that a long time ago, believing that all men simply wanted the obvious, and then leave as quickly as possible. It's just, I've never met a man that couldn't wait to leave. She said, lifting the glass to her lips again and draining the rest of it as her eyes looked over Gabe. She replaced the empty glass on the table and watched him grimly, waiting for his reply.

Gabe listened to her and nodded, he downed the rest of his wine and refilled their glasses before speaking. " Well, the way i used to live my life was that way. But now i realize with that kind of life there is nothing to look forward too. Nothing to set goals for....its just pointless and the more i talk about it the more i hate it and the more im glad that im done with that lifestyle. " he said looking up and sipping more of the wine. The wine tasted sweet to him, because when he drank it was usually whiskey and beer, the wine was a nice change and gave him a different buzz quicker than the beer and whiskey he was used to.

Marissa simply nodded for a moment, and looked away, not knowing what to say next. She had never had a problem with being shy before, but, then again, she had never really liked the guys she had dated. Of course, she had liked somethings about them, it wasn't as if they were unattractive or unintelligent, it was just that they tended to be jerks that saw her as an object. So she hadn't had a problem talking to them, but, now, she was as shy as a child, not understanding her conflicting feelings towards Gabe. She, as well, thought the wine was sweeter than some she was used to, but she didn't say it. It would have only shown how shy she was to pick such a silly subject.

A Waiter soon came and asked for their orders
Gabe looked quickly at the menu and ordered some kind of pasta with meat and white sauce....he didnt really know how to pronounce it so he just pointed it out with a gentleman smile and handed the lady the menu. Gabe finished off another glass of wine and poured himself another, gosh this wine really hit him harder than he thought it would. It wasnt like he was rediculously drunk, he was just tipsy and feeling very warm and relaxed. " So, how do you like it here? " he asked looking out the window onto the rolling hills of vineyards outside in the setting sun.
