Breath hissed out from between Colt's teeth as he clenched his jaw against the pain. It took him a second, but he got to the point where he could bear it. When the girl started pressing gauze on the wound, he had an overwhelming urge to pick her up, set her in the aisle and slam the door in her face. But he couldn't even find the strength to tell her to leave, much less to pick her up and move her himself. He gripped the edge of the sink hard as she switched to the peroxide, denting the steel beneath his fingers with the pressure of his own pain. Breath hissed between his clenched teeth again as she finished cleaning it. When, with a harsh bark of laughter, he replied I was just doing what I do best. Acting like an idiot. He didn't smile even while he was laughing though, it wasn't funny to him. It was just the cruel work of an even crueler god.
Colt turned and reached around her, grabbing more gauze, an ace bandage, and some alcohol. He sat it on the edge of the sink and doused the wound in alcohol, barely flinching when it ran through the open flesh. He pressed the gauze against it and started to wind the ace bandage around it.

Kate smiled slightly at his comment, " Colt, maybe you should let a doctor see that...it will just get swolen and stiff and then you wont even be able to work " she said softly...she didnt want to seem like she was bossing her boss around. But in the end she knew he would end up doing what he wanted, she could tell he was one of those head strong manly men. She turned to the sink and began to rinse the blood off of her hands, throwing some of the red gauze into the trash bin. She turned around leaning against the sink, drying her hands with a towel. She gave him a quizical look, wondering what he would choose to do. ( sorry no muse at the moment...ps-im messaging you cause i have an idea )

Colt nodded curtly, hating the fact that she was right. He came close to telling her to mind her own business, but he knew she was just trying to help. But the knowledge didn't sweeten his temper even a bit. He didn't need a woman telling him what to do, and he didn't need a woman worrying over him. He'd done just fine these past three years and he would keep on doing fine until he died. No meddling female would wreck his life ever again, of that he was certain. I'll go later. What did you say your name was again? His voice didn't betray his thoughts though, his lyrics were the same as before, deep and tinged with misery.
Colt turned away from her and began cleaning up the mess he had left. Soon everything was as it had been before, except for his arm and shirt of course. Turning, Colt motioned for the girl to follow as he walked towards the office.
He walked into the office and started looking about the room, opening filing cabinets and drawers until he found what he was looking for. A semi-clean western shirt that was imppossibly wrinkled. It looked almost exactly like the one he just took off, except it was a faded red instead of blue. He slipped it on quickly and snapped the pearl snaps, leaving the top two unbuttoned as always. Then he glanced about the room, suprised at the amount of work the girl had already accomplished.

Kate watched him as he cleaned up the rest of the mess and followed him as he began to walk into the office. " Kate...Kate Watson " she said absentmindedly as she walked into the office. Looking around she was again overwhelmed by the massive amounts of paper work and stacks of file folders. She would have a lot of work to do and she would just have to keep herself motivated to see a clean office...but she had gotten a good bit of work done.
She saw a bit of change on his face as he looked around the room, she didn't let her face show it, but she felt a but of self accomplishment after seeing his reaction. Then it sunk in again that it would take weeks and probably months to get it back in running order, not to mention there would be more and more paperwork coming in from everyday work that Colt would do...." It's definitely a work in progress... " she said, more to herself than to Colt.

Colt nodded as he stared at the mass of paperwork. He literally hadn't touched any of he papers since Novalle's death. A few weeks after she died his secretary had quit, saying she couldn't put up with him anymore. Since then the papers had simply piled up. He had never been very organized, but the fatigue and sorrow he felt had simply left him too drained for anything. He still hadn't set his life right, if the office sight was any indication.
The arrival of his ex-girlfriend hadn't helped straighten anything. If anything, things had become crazier, more hectic. Novalle had once been the stable point in his life, and, now, that stability was gone, leaving him floundering like a stallion in a snow drift.
He used to always think that he had been the only thing keeping Novalle sane, but it had always been the other way around. He'd never known how much he needed his little sister, but the cruelty of life found a way to show him. Even almost three years later he was off-balance, uncertain. He wasn't sure if anything would ever set him straight again. Amy's arrival hadn't, it only set him teetering towards an edge he hadn't even known was there. He wasn't sure that he could forgive her, even though the love he held for her was a knife in his chest. Her words sounded like desperate lies, the work of an imaginative drama queen, but, somewhere inside of him, he wanted to believe her, and he wanted to rip Josh's throat out.
His thoughts changed back to Kate as he realized the futility of stoking up his own anger. If Amy was lying, she wasn't worth his anger or hurt. If she was telling the truth then Josh had to die. It was that simple. No use thinking on it. Sighing, he turned away from the mental and physical mess. How much did I say I'd pay you? I can't imagine that it'd be worth organizing this mess. He laughed softly, the room was a wreck.

Kates stare went from the messy room to the man that stood a step in front of her, she couldnt help but noticed when he seemed to daze off. She saw hurt and pain flood across his face, and it seemed as if she goes unconscious for a moment. Like his memories from his past are lulling him into a slow death. She almost wanted to reach out and bring him back to the moment, but couldnt bring herself to do it. She looked away awkwardly and finally noticed him come back from his daze.
She raised her eye brows, " I'm not even sure that we decided on an ammount. I was just going to work here to pay for boarding and to have some extra spending money " she said, realizing she sounded like a child. Kate laughed also, it was odd because it seemed like that was the first real laugh that she had heard from him. It wasnt a sarcastic or forced laugh like many of the others he had since she had met him.
